The Style File: Designer Diaries
by Taylor St. John
MEET ERIC.
An expert buyer at Other People's Clothes, Eric is an emerging fashion designer, Beyoncé super fan, and our official buy counter siren. His clothing knowledge and fierce taste is why the OPC floor is packed with stunning pieces you're most likely wearing leaving the club on an early Sunday morning.
I talked to Eric about the meaning behind his designs, Vivienne Westwood pendant necklaces, the NYC club scene and soooooo much more. Scroll to get inspired by Eric's avant-garde edge.
Eric's a native New Yorker currently studying fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology, specializing in lingerie and intimate apparel. The designer lens is visible in his style, figuratively and literally as many of his outfits are accompanied by a measuring tape laced in his belt loops. His eye for design also shows in his layering and accessorizing.

Eric's style is more than an amalgamation of club culture and nods to the early 2000s. It's a kind of cohesive story you read while on the train to Nowadays at 2am, listening to your favorite song from Dangerously in Love. It's fluid. It's rhythmic. It's all in the details.
"I’ve always felt unsatisfied by modern menswear. To me, it can feel limiting and, at times, a little boring. I don’t want to be constrained by heteronormative standards of what men’s fashion is supposed to look like"
Eric's personal style blends both femininity and masculinity, and he says that balance naturally carries over into his work.
"Fashion has always been an outlet for self-expression and a way to build confidence. When I look in the mirror, I want to feel powerful, beautiful, and happy with what I see."
Eric's #1 style holy grail: the Vivienne Westwood pendant necklace. His collection is growing and you can often find his neck adorned with the punk designer's pearls and pendants.
Want to start your own collection? Rumor has it, there's a Vivienne Westwood lighter necklace in our OPC MKT right now...

As a designer, Eric creates for queer people, gay boys, and anyone who wants to feel bold and confident. Everything he touches seems to drip in authenticity.
"I want my designs to give people permission to take up space, embrace every part of who they are, and look incredible while doing it."
