Style File: Total Shapeshifter
by Taylor St. John
We know our staff is stylish… That’s why we opened the style file.
A staunch Aries and an ever-evolving style sage; you can find Morgan behind the buy counter at Other People's Clothes.
Raise your hand if you've ever been personally victimized by the online trend of labeling aesthetics. Whimsy twee, mcbling, preppy, dark y2k, cottagecore. There’s never been more pressure to define how you dress despite the scene you’re in. When did we start boiling down style to a few Instagram slides and a name? Do we expect a full fledge person to wedge their way into one narrow, cylinder of micro-trends and Shein-esque overconsumption after another? It's refreshing to see someone truly shapeshifting their style when this online trend is bursting at the seams of the real world.
And Morgan is the shapeshifter.
She doesn't believe in having one aesthetic and takes on the Vivienne Westwood mantra of pairing down your wardrobe, honing in on upcycling and making things your own.
"Nothing is going to be as authentic as your own lived experience. Don't switch your wardrobe as quickly as social media leads you to believe," she told me.
I talked to Morgan about how her sun sign rules her style and dressing for the dissatisfaction of others. Keep scrolling to see what's in her bag and get inspired by Morgans's wild style.
Morgan heavily identifies with her astrological sun sign. Aries is the first sign in the zodiac and is ruled by Mars. It embodies action, energy, and competition. I was curious how her sun sign rules her style. Morgan's point of view on fashion is anarchist punk and to be a true Aries is to be punk. Overall, how she utilizes her style has a lot to with her fire sun.

There's nothing like a niche shoe obsession and Morgan's is John Fluevog. The Vancouver shoe designer has been creating unique, quirky silhouettes for over 50 years.
"They're kind of used for theatre, dance and costuming; but I think they're a cool streetwear shoe brand. I love how unisex the styles are and I just love androgynous shoes."

While most dress for approval, Morgan prefers to dress for the dissatisfaction of others. She believes it's more fun.
"The more androgynous and weird you get with your makeup and hair and all of that, it kind of just like, feels good. It feels better”
Her style turns heads and she doesn't care whether that's good or bad.
