A member of Los Esplifs and solo artist MCHL, Caleb’s creative approach is centered around fashion, history and earthy organic elements. Water, dirt and vegetation are seen and heard throughout. When creating the first sounds of his new project, he used field recordings and percussion.
“I found an abandoned warehouse in Tucson and started recording in there. I collected those sounds and collabed with other NY artists,” he shares while giving credit to Evan Wright and Dion Kerr, who helped develop the sound of his new project.
In addition to music, Caleb draws inspiration from Indigenous Mexican folklore and Caribbean garments.
“My mother is Indigenous Mexican. Yaqui—they’re a desert tribe.”
Earth tones, heat-conscious garments, and cowboy silhouettes are the bones of Caleb’s style. He builds his outfits around a great pair of pants and, typically, a crop top.
“I crop every shirt that I have, even if it’s designer or true vintage.”
His day-to-day looks are colorful, sensible, masculine and adorned with a carabiner of curated keys and utility tools.
